Hon. Lengwe Gyigoce Wushangka has formally declared his interest to contest for the Chairmanship of Kanke Local Government Council on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in what many have described as a defining moment for grassroots politics in Kanke.
The activities of the day began with a church service at COCIN Church, Goktok, where Hon. Wushangka fellowshiped with his community in thanksgiving and prayer. During the service, special prayers were offered for peace, unity, and the success of the forthcoming election. The atmosphere was reflective and solemn, setting a spiritual tone for the historic declaration.
Following the church service, he proceeded to his polling unit in Goktok, where party faithful, elders, youths, and women gathered in large numbers to endorse his aspiration. The reception was energetic and unified, with overwhelming expressions of support for his candidacy.
Hon. Wushangka then paid a traditional homage visit to the Ngolong of Goktok, Langshi, and environs. The visit underscored the importance of respecting traditional institutions and seeking community blessings. The support received from the royal stool and stakeholders was both encouraging and reassuring.
The consultation continued at Langshi Primary School, where he engaged with ward executives in a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and structure. He later met with the entire executives of the local government, reinforcing collaboration and collective commitment ahead of the election season.
The day concluded on a celebratory note as the people of Kanke gathered at Whitepages Hotel and Suites in Kabwir to mark his birthday in a massive show of solidarity and goodwill. What began as a spiritual gathering and political declaration ended as a powerful demonstration of unity and shared purpose.
In his address to supporters and well-wishers, Hon. Wushangka emphasized his central campaign message of consolidating the gains achieved over the years while building a stronger, more inclusive future for Kanke. He highlighted the need for innovative governance, youth empowerment, institutional strength, and sustained peace.
He also called on the people of Kanke to remain steadfast in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as preparations begin for the 2027 presidential and gubernatorial elections. He stressed that alignment and cooperation across all levels of government will bring greater dividends to the grassroots.
Furthermore, he urged all sons and daughters of Ngas land to support and pray for Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda in his bid to clinch the position of National Chairman at the forthcoming APC Congress, noting that strong national leadership will further reposition the party for stability and electoral success.
